Security System

If you had the money, would you install a security system in your house?
Why or why not?

No, I don't think I would. For one thing, I sometimes forget to lock my door at night so I am sure I would forget to set the alarm...ha! But seriously if someone really wanted to get in, they could security system or not!

yes, not because I'm worried about them taking my stuff. But I'd like an alert for me and an alarm to scare them off. I only think about this when my hubby is gone...let's see he has been gone a lot lately! YIKES! I asked our insurance agent about alarm systems and she said the best thing to get is a dog!

No. My mom has a security system right now, and it's the most annoying thing in the whole world. What really bugs me about it is that it's wired to only go off if a door is opened, but anyone could get in thru a window! For the $45 a month she pays for it, I definitely think it's a waste of money, and it really doesn't make me feel any more secure. In fact, it has gone off a couple of times by mistake, and I thought I was going to have a heart attack! It scared me so much, and Addie freaks out every time she hears it. If and when we ever have our own home again, we will not be installing a security system.

probably not. i just don't worry much about stuff like that. maybe because i grew up in a small town; i only lock my doors at night and often leave the keys in the car. if i had the money, i'd spend it on having someone clean my house instead :-)

Nah--in Cochrane we leave our doors unlocked half the time!

We had one when we lived in Slaton and disconnected it...we never subscribed to the service but the keypad was right by our room and had an awful glow so we just unscrewed it and cut the wires. (I'm sure the people who bought our house were wondering about that!) Some strange plug to it was connected in the utility...while painting one night - we bumped it and a siren started to go off in our house. After we found it...INSIDE of the return air vent, we had to unscrew the cover and cut that wire too! So - long story here - no - we would probably not install a system in our home. By the way - we close on our new house on the 6th! YEAH!

Probably not. I can understand it for a business, but no thanks for home. Our house we built in Austin was wired for a security system and I said NO THANKS!
And I used to work for a company with a system and I was usually the first to get there. I had to unlock the door and then I had 60 seconds to get the keypad (not by the door) and enter the code. It was kind of stressful. One lady didn't make it in time and the APD and AFD showed up! HA! The bosses were NOT happy!
Sorry for the long story...:{

I'm with Julie, I'd rather have someone clean my house! LOL Now, if I had a backyard fence, I'd get a dog!

I'm also with Julie. Years ago I would have said absolutely YES, but I have conquered lots of my fear issues. Or maybe it's just that I'm too tired at night now to worry about it. Ask me when I'm old.

Count me in with Julie! I don't know if I would feel differently if I lived somewhere else but it seems like it would be MORE stressful--like some of the other commenters pointed out.
