Buzz Lightyear

Buzz Lightyear.  It all started many years ago when Amy was potty training Isaac.  For incentive, Amy would allow Isaac to call Buzz Lightyear if Isaac would potty.  So...Amy would call ME and tell me that Isaac wanted to talk to Buzz.  I would deepen my voice and talk to him and would always end with "TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!"  As a little guy, it wasn't hard to convince Isaac he was talking to Buzz.  But he got older and still wanted to call Buzz occasionally.  He'd ask to speak to Woody, Jesse, Bulleye--the whole gang.  I was terrible at the other voices--especially if it was in the same conversation.  So...many times, he'd hear that Jesse was out riding Bullseye or some such tale.  Well, it didn't stop with Isaac.  Josiah came along and he also wanted to call Buzz.  I always told Amy that "some day" when they found out who Buzz was, they were going to be so disappointed that it was their grandma!
About a week before I went to stay with the kids this last time, Jay called and told me that Isaac wanted to talk to Buzz.  So we chatted.  I, of course, remembered many personal things about him---and you could tell there was just a little bit in Ike wanting to "believe."
One night, we were all sitting at the table and Amy leaned over and whispered, "Talk like Buzz."  I looked at her incredulously and wondered why!  But she told me to do it.  So I looked at the boys and said, "TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!"  I wish you could have seen their expressions.  They were truly stunned.  And Isaac said, "Our GRANDMOTHER????"  It was so funny!!  Amy & I were rolling in the floor laughing.
For the rest of the week, Isaac would look at me occasionally and say, "I can't believe Buzz was my grandma!"
It was a good run.

It will always be a great memory. I liked it when Dad would be Woody and you would play Jesse. :)

That is the funniest thing I've heard all day! I remember living in Hereford and they would call us and Dave would pretend to be Buzz. I guess that's when you weren't available.
