Flashback

Sorry for the poor quality of these pictures. But cameras were....less than good...back then! And my scanner isn't working, so these are pictures of pictures. (The bad quality is really from the original picture, though!) After posting Emily's baby's pictures on her blog, I went looking for pictures of Amy & Emily when they were about 3 years old. I didn't find them (BOY! Do I need to organize my pictures!!) but I found these. Pretty cute!

Matt & Amy watching t.v. I was trying to find a picture of Amy's curls. I know I have a better one, but couldn't find it. Matt & Amy are 1 year and 1 day apart. We got the twin question alot.

Who does this look like? Isn't it amazing how much her kids look like her? And I thought they looked like Jay!

This is Amy at about 1 year. This train ran on its own and she was crawling after it. Notice the "pinafore," Amy. ha! And the red hair....

Two pretty cute clowns. Amy's in the green and Matt's in the red. My mom made their costumes. David was a baby and we painted his cheeks red and put him in a polka-dot sleeper.

UUGGGHHHH...

Please pray for me. I feel flu-like. I hate being sick. I don't have time to be sick. I don't want to be sick. I look sick. Yep, I think I am sick.

How do you hear God?

Terry, I keep thinking about you taking us outside of your cabin at Cuchara to listen to.....the silence! (And boy!--was it silent!!) I've been trying to discipline myself since then to sit in silence every once in awhile! It's a hard thing to do.
I've talked before on my blog about the verse in Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." The Amplified says, "Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!"
I think this verse does mean we need to get still---besides meaning we need to let go of some things when we do get still. That's part of the "stillness." That's also "striving for God's rest." (Hebrews 4:11, Amplified)
When you get still, how do you hear God? I'm just interested.....

YEA!!!

I got to take a shower in the light this morning!

How Would Jesus Vote?

That was how our visiting preacher started out his sermon today. WOW! Really makes you stop and think. His point was that Jesus would only vote in agreement with the Word of God. He couldn't oppose it. He would have to vote pro-life because of Psalm 139:13. And he would have to vote pro-marriage because of Genesis 2:20-24. He would not base his vote on economics. Not when he told us that he's more concerned about caring for us than the sparrows. Matthew 6:25-26

Saturday

Wow! My first Saturday in a long time to do nothing. I LOVE IT!! I slept in until 10:00 a.m. Can you believe that? I've really been tired. You know, we talked at the retreat about how my grandmother's generation stayed tired physically. They worked the farms and animals full-time besides rearing large families. We don't do near the physical labor they did, but we exert more mental and emotional energy, I think---and that zaps our physical energy. I've been feeling it.
What have I done today? I've been packing up Christmas gifts to ship to Florida. Maybe someone needed to move years ago so I'd be this organized for Christmas! (Just kidding...I'm trying to figure out how to get there. I can't stand seeing Olivia grow up and not know her Gee!!) It's been so fun getting things together. I've also thought things through a little more, too.
I found some fun stuff to send to all the grandkids "just because." That's always fun for me. They probably don't get as big a kick out of it as I do! ha! But I remember how much my kids LOVED getting stuff in the mail just for them.
Let's see....I went and got some things at Wal-Mart, including Emergen-C. I woke up with a sore throat, so I thought I better start taking it. Good stuff! (Although I'm wondering if it's just from snoring---I kept waking myself up last night!! ha!)
And of course, my heart has been at Baylor Medical with Emily and her family. It's hard to think of anything else.
OH!!! And I couldn't believe how many kids came by trick-or-treating last night. We've had around 50 or more in the past....but I probably only had about 20 last night. Where were all the goblins? I've loved looking at pictures of all your cuties. Wasn't Tinker's Tush cute??
So there you have it----my kicked-back Saturday!!
