Sopapilla Cheesecake

Oh.my.goodness.  I made this this morning for my prayer group.  (Of course we don't just pray!  We meet, eat, and catch up.  Then...we pray.)  I promise you...I could have eaten THIS WHOLE THING all by myself!  I knew I didn't need the 5/6 remaining at my house, so I took it to work to share with all our great volunteers.  I had another piece (or 2) for lunch.  Just looking at the picture makes me want to run back up there and get the remaining 4 pieces in the Living Water fridge and bring them home and eat them!    I know most of you already pinterest and have probably pinned this to your board.  But for those who don't, you must make this!!  Every woman at Living Water asked for the recipe and said they were making it this week.  Did I tell you it's YUMMY?????

Beef Gumbo

There are all kinds of gumbo, but I found this recipe a couple of years ago and have fallen in love with it.  In fact, I was craving it this week with the cold weather.  I thought someone else might like it!

Beef Gumbo
2 Tb. Shortening
1 Onion chopped
1 Green Bell Pepper chopped
1 cup Sliced Okra (I used frozen)
2-16 oz. Cans Tomatoes
1 Tb. & 1 tsp. Chili Powder
10 Drops Tobasco Sauce (I was out, so I used Cayenne Pepper)
2 Tb. Worcestershire Sauce
2 cups Stew Meat or Leftover Roast
Salt to taste
Beef Broth, if necessary (I always use a can)
Saute onion and bell pepper in shortening.  Add okra and continue to saute.  Add tomatoes, beef and seasonings.  If needed, add beef broth.  Cook over low heat 1 1/2 hours.

Homemade Softener

For all you girls making homemade laundry soap, my cousin just gave me this recipe for homemade fabric softener:
Homemade Fabric Softener... For 1 gallon:
6 cups water (I use distilled water)
3 cups white vinegar (I use about 2 3/4 cup but the original recipe calls for 3 so play around with it and find what works for you)
1 1/2 – 2 cups hair conditioner
Note: if you warm up the water in the microwave, it makes it easier to mix the conditioner. Otherwise it might get a bit “lumpy”.

She also said this: "I'm loving saving money making my own laundry soap! I searched for a recipe for fabric softener and found some! This morning I tried one suggestion of simply using white vinegar in the rinse compartment in my washer. Wonderful! The clothes simply smell fresh and clean but I was most impressed by how soft and fluffy ...they came out! I didn't use a dryer sheet either and there wasn't any static! I can handle this! I filled the rinse dispenser 1/2 with vinegar and filled to the line with water. The washer smelled like vinegar but the clothes just smelled fresh!"

Thanks, Sue!
