"...See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end." Matthew 24:6b
In Mt 24, Jesus gives us a long list of things that are merely normal occurrences and not a sign that the end is near: false christs, wars, famines, and natural disasters. These things are simply the way the world is.
Tribulation against the church leading to many abandoning it and false teachers rising will be something to look for as a sign that the end is nearer.
However, it is not until verse 14 that He reveals what we should be watching for as a sign of the end:
"This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come."
I am married to Andy Dietz, pastor of First Baptist Church, Groom, TX. We've been in the ministry for over 35 years. We have four grown children and 10 beautiful grandchildren! I write to share what God is teaching me (it's a continual work in progress!) and to open the window to my life and allow you to look in.
